Session: Creating Characters and Worlds without Limits

Gabrielle has been developing and playing games since she first laid hands on a keyboard in the early 80s. During her career she has worked on console and PC games for Accolade, Infogrammes and Atari and lectured in Game Development at Teesside University where she ran the Animex Festival. She has been voted one of the Top 100 most Influential Women in the games industry four times, received a Woman of the Year Ambassador Award from MCV magazine, and has served as a judge on the Games BAFTA awards on many occasions.

Now focussing more on writing, Gabrielle is the author of the Knights and Bikes book series based on the game by FoamSword, published by Double Fine Presents, as well as the Alfie Bloom series, which has been published in eight languages.

One of her favourite experiences was being recruited by the BBC as a games expert to help Peter Capaldi’s Doctor Who to save the world from the Daleks using programming.
